Modern humans are the only extant members of the hominin clade, a branch of great apes characterized by erect posture and bipedal locomotion; manual dexterity and increased tool use; and a general trend toward larger, more complex brains and societies. Being one of the oldest living cities in world, it holds a great importance in Indian history, VEDIC education and mythology. The great river banks at Varanasi, built high with eighteenth and nineteenth-century pavilions and palaces, temples and terraces, are lined with an endless chain of stone steps – the ghats – progressing along the whole of the waterfront, altering in appearance with the dramatic seasonal fluctuations of the river level. Some have crumbled over the years; others continue to thrive, with early-morning bathers, brahmin priests offering puja, and people practicing meditation and yoga. Varanasi is also the centre of moksha or nirvana. KASHI – former name of Varanasi, signifies that it is also a site of spiritual luminance. Along the water’s edge, there are the burning ghats. The most sacred one is Manikarnika, associated with Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva’s wife. The most famous temples to visit is the Golden or Vishwanath Temple dedicated to Shiva the most important of the trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara, the Lords of this universe.
Day 01: Arrive at Varanasi
Afternoon arrive at Varanasi Airport you will be greeted by our representative who will escort you to hotel and assist in check in. Late afternoon proceed for Evening Bazzar Walk ending with Ganga Aarti.
Varanasi is not only famous for Temples but is also well known for PAAN (beetle leaf), fabrics, metal and wooden works. If you are ready to get yourself lost in chaos and crowd of bustling market of Varanasi follows our guide who will help you to do so. To start in a truly Banarasi style it is better to visit a PAAN shop from where can select your favor stuffed in PAAN.
You will visit a colourful fabric and saree market to visit a Goshala, Kinari Bazaa (famous for wedding materials), Kachori Gali (a kind of Indian snack), and Khoya Gali (famous for sweets). To conclude your tour we will ensure that you reach Dashashumedh Ghat by 1745 hrs to take your place to view the magnificent Ganga Aati.
Then after our guide will drop you to hotel where you rest and have overnight stay.
Day 02: at Varanasi
(Optional – Very early morning visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple to view Mangla Aarti.)
Today program is lined with Dawn Boat Ride followed by Ghat Tour. Afternoon you experience Buddhist Trail at Sarnarth.
Early morning (0500 hrs) meet our guide who will guide you to Dashashumedh Ghat from where you will embark boat sailing on river Ganges to Aasi Ghat. During the course of cruising you will witness a whole lot of morning activities long the ghats with mantras and chants reaching your ear. Morning air is also filled with aroma of dhoop.
De-embark your boat at Aasi Ghat where you sit on the stairs and view devotees their way of offering prayers. You also get change to communicate some of priest who will tell you about rituals, Hinduism, and lots of stories about Mahakal & Shiva. Further continue your walking to Tulsi Ghat, where you can witness wrestlers involved in physical workout and masters training them. You will also view wrestling among the participants. Continuing our journey you will walk past ashrams and many small ghats. Finally you will reach Manikanika Ghat – the most famous one which is related to end of life journey of humans.
Arrive at hotel for breakfast and have rest for a short while. Then after proceed for excursion to Sarnath – the place where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon and set the Dhammachakka – the wheel of law in motion. The Museum at Sarnath contains important findings from the excavations in this area. In modern times, several temples have been built in Sarnath and are also worth visiting.
On returning to Varanasi city you will visit to Ramnagar Fort (present residence of Maharaja Anant Narayan Singh) where historical statues, equipments and majestic antiques such as the old armory, vintage cars, antique clocks, ivory work, swords, old guns, gold and silver royal palki’s, medieval costumes, silver elephant saddles, jewellery, furniture, carved out of silver, variety of costumes etc, awaits to narrate the history and story during reign of famous Kashi Naresh Raja Balwant Singh.
Evening is left free for yourself recreational activities. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 03: at Varanasi (optional)
Today you will witness the lanes and streets of Varansi where artisans prepare products which have gained famed worldwide. Then after you will visit to BHU (Banaras Hindu University) which the centre of learning for many subjects related to religion, mythology and astrology.
Post breakfast walk along the lanes of Choka Ghat to witness how the famous Banarasi Silk saree is woven. Further waling takes you to lanes where you can see craftsmen carving statues out of wood or stone.
Afternoon visit to BHU – the centre of learning. You ca also visit to some VEDIC schools where you can interact with faculties ad master to answer you questions and enlighten your knowledge helping you to understand the truth of ancient Indian culture in a much better way.
Day 04: Varanasi departure
Morning you can visit to some temple. Afternoon check out from hotel and prepare yourself for onward journey.
