Kerala – also referred to as Gods Own Country is located on south – west region of Malabar Cost. This land has filled the aroma of spice in itself and was so the prominent spice exporter to many foreign market since 3000 BC. Many dynasties, rulers and invaders governed it and left their signage while leaving. But one thing that remained unchanged and grew with change of time was its culture, tradition and beauty.
With 11 days tour you will experience and will explore Malabar Cost in different way by involving yourself in its activities, communicating with people, learning traditional art, and thrill yourself with nature’s gift.
Day 02: at Kochi
One of the most picturesque of Kerala and termed as ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea’ Kochi is the commercial hub of Kerala. It has been known for its fine ivory, sandalwood, perfumes and gold.
Morning you will be escorted for Heritage Walk at Fort Cochin where you will come across colonies built in Dutch and Portuguese style. Old Churches, spice market and museums are must visit in today’s schedule.
Later we will take you to the auditorium where you will view Kathakali dance (cultural dance of Kerala). (B)
Day 03: Kochi to Periyar
Early morning visit to Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple, the most important among 393 shrines spread over 3 districts of Kerala. The pleasant atmosphere in the temple gives mental peace and harmony to devotees.
After breakfast proceed to Periyar. On arrival get fresh-n-up and further proceed for Tribal Heritage Program.
Tribal Heritage Program (02 pm to 04 pm)
Periyar is home to many tribal communities including the Mannans and the Palians. A visit to the Reserve provides visitors with the unique opportunity to visit these tribal communities. The Tribal Heritage Programme organized as part of the ecotourism providing an insight into the lives of these communities.
The programme involves a walk through a nature trail to enter a tribal settlement inside the dense forest. The walk through the thick forest with its criss-crossing brooks and the chirping of the birds in the background is a fantastic experience. The tribal folk live in grey-thatched houses like the ones they have lived in for centuries. Though their lives are full of challenges, they are a peaceful people who live in harmony with nature.
Tribal Heritage Museum
The Tribal Heritage Museum, set up by the government tourism authorities inside the Mannan settlement, is well worth a visit. The museum provides a glimpse into the history of the tribal community here that includes artifacts from earlier times. It provides a peep into the community’s original culture and lifestyle.
Day 04: at Periyar
After a leisure breakfast proceed for a short tour to with your escort taking you into a local village where you can communicate with people who are eager to tell their stories and about themselves. You can see beautiful art laid at the front door of each house with people involved the spice processing activities. You guide will explain how spices are grown and processed. You will also visit to a farm hand of spices.
Then after visit to elephant training camp where you can get yourself involved into activities and learn instruction tricks to elephants. Last you day tour concludes with a ride on elephant.
Return to your hotel and leisure yourself for rest of the day.
Day 06: Cruise in the Backwater overnight
Tour to Kerala is incomplete without an overnight cruise in the back waters.
Morning board your legendary House Boat cruising in backwaters overnight. During your journey you will sight a whole lot of activities at the bay, along with exploring the beauty of Vembanad Lake.
Day 07: Alleppey to Thrissur
You will de-embark your house boat after breakfast. Then after you will visit to a coir factory that manufactures beautiful export quality products from coir. You can learn how useful coir is and how it gained importance in international market. Then after you will visit to a coconut processing unit and a banana chips factory.
Afternoon drive to Thrissur (03 hrs journey by road). After receiving a warm welcome at hotel settle in your room to rest.
Day 08: at Thrissur
Thrissur which is the cultural capital of Kerala has an extraordinarily rich past as well as a vibrant present It is also adobe of several prominent culture centers including the Kerala Kalamandalam, Sahitya Academy and Sangeetha Nataka Academy.
Your day is scheduled with visit to temples, cathedrals, churches and museums. (B)
Day 09: Thrissur to Calicut
After a leisure breakfast proceed towards Calicut which came into prominence in the World History after Portuguese traveler Vasco Da Gama landed on the Kappakkadavu Beach in this city on his discovery of the sea route from Europe to India.
After you fresh-n-up take a short tour exploring the city with visits to The Thali Temple, Jami Mosque, Lighthouse, and Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary.
Evening you are left free to visit the local markets.
Day 10: at Calicult
Early morning visit to Dolphin’s Point. If lucky you will be able to spot some dolphins playing in the sea. Afternoon you will be escorted to CVN Kalari institution where you will get chance to learn about Kalaripayattu.
Kalaripayattu is one the most famous martial art that has caught the attention of the world. CVN Kalari is a very familiar name to all the Kalari enthusiasts.
Meet one of the masters ad instructors who will introduce you to this art form and you will also be able to see some of the performances. Incase interested you can also plan to take a short course for beginners.
Day 11: proceed for onward journey
Today you pack your bags with exciting memories of Malabar Holidays to proceed for onward journey where you can share you experiences.
Afternoon check out from hotel ad transfer to Kohikode International Airport to board flight to onward destination.
